IBM is just one of the many corporations that use social media and wikis for easier collaboration. According to the article linked below, IBM has over 17,000 internal blogs, where people just create their blog without any type of formality. These blogs can be read and added to from anywhere you have internet access. IBM also uses an internal wiki that receives well over one million page views a day! IBM seems to be on par with technology, which makes sense due to them being the company that they are, thus knowing exactly what to do to make themselves more efficient. By using internal blogs and wikis, IBM is easily able to keep up with everything happening within their giant corporation and can easily change anything needed while sharing with the whole company.
When all the partners of a project or business are able to see the latest information at the same time, there is much less chance of someone's ideas getting unseen, important information getting lost, or data getting misplaced. Everyone can collaborate without worry that they don't have the latest information or that someone isn't aware of what's going on. Information can easily be edited and time doesn't have to be wasted by sending it to every single person involved. IBM knows all of this and makes extremely great use out of the current wiki collaboration system.
